yes, rudd did have big plans, as per the previous budget - the fan was just starting to cop the crap not long after
the previous mob sold off assets to reduce debt and get the future fund going - imagine no mining boom and howard not being able to sell off the likes of telstra
i honestly don't think it would matter one iota who was in power right now - i would also be supporting the libs in these trickier times, if they were in power, on the understanding of the difficulties at hand
