Roger doesn't really have green alliance partners in WA. Look at what happened to the Green vote at the last election - fully collapsed. They all went to Labor (the McGowan effect). So they are not so much "Green Alliance" as you see federally; its just "hard left labor". This actually makes it easier for cook to change though, as its within his own party.

The point that CXU keeps banging on about is that if all the stars align - Cook might be soft forced into moving it. If iron ore price drops so WA loses revenue, then you have lots of miners already out of jobs in lithium, nickel, and then iron ore, well the middle and right of the labor party are bigger than the Left. I think it was CXU CEO said "When ideology comes up against jobs, eventually jobs wins".

The current position then gets much harder to defend as AUKUS ramps up in WA; and then if you have a supportive new LNP federal government, things could get very interesting. State Labor will need to work constructively with a federal LNP government. The moral high ground argument - that exporting uranium helps global decarbonisation - is a powerful one.

Its all very possible, IMHO. DYOR.
