This kind of price for firm solar is new-ish. I doubt they can do this with batteries, but I bet they can do it by just buying coal-fired power when the sun does not shine. The offered price is below the marginal cost of LNG in the Philippines. A 200 MW SCGT will almost never run, in a WESM crowded with cheap coal and soon, cheap solar. You need gas-fired capacity to complement RE, generally, but nobody is going to give a contract to EWC. As always, just my opinion.
