He's talking about increases in vendors, creditors debt. Nothing to do with profit. Even borrowing another $100m wouldn't affect their profit per se, the interest would but that's an expense, not a debt (except in Lynas case!).
Assets go down, liabilities go up because a company makes a loss, not the other way around. The profit and loss drives the balance sheet. Again, except in Lynas case when they have asset impairment, but that is unusual and not what CJ was talking about.
