A billionairess like Gina Rinehart does not really need to be dragged into a scrap at a small-scale oil explorer like Lakes Oil, but minor mining entrepreneur Nick Mather can shoulder the blame for the insurrection that has triggered a major shareholder showdown next month.
Mather is in charge of Lakes' biggest investor and joint venture partner Armour Energy, which issued its partner with a notice last month to remove Lakes' executive chairman Rob Annells and fellow board member Barney Berold. Armour would then dominate the board.
