Long memories! The White Australia policy was a creature of Labo(u)r. Bob Hawkes uncle, Premier of WA, presided over laws that allowed station owners to flog aboriginal employees without any sort of trial. I am 75 and in my lifetime Labor has shifted ground from one extreme to the other. IMHO Labor has just used aboriginals as a handy weapon, and to my knowledge a lot of aboriginals know this, and that is why many aboriginals do not vote labor.
