Had a look at the Peruvian and Chilean mining cadastre and noticed the following in regards to Metminco's landholding:
- 6 new tenement applications lodged in the region around (but not adjacent to) Los Calatos. Tenement applications under the names of Celeste 9, Celeste 10, Celeste 11, Celeste 12, Celeste 13 and Celeste 14 in case anyone wants to follow up further
- most exploration and mining concessions around Isidro and Camaron have been dropped
I presume the new applications around Los Calatos are to secure land for infrastructure purposes.
We knew from previous quarterlies that the option for the Genesis leases (Camaron) would be dropped, and so has happened, and consequently most of the landholding around it has been dropped as well. Will save a little cash in rates.
On other news, I came across the presentation delivered last November in Switzerland, somewhat more detailes than the one released to the ASX on October 16.

On yet other news the conflict with the Bauza family around Mollacas has no end in sight (link in spanish, sorry):

With the Bauza family saying that the land where the project is to be developed belongs to them and that Metminco is destroying valuable agricultural land. Metminco according to the article, indicates that the opinions of the Bauza family is Metminco's refusal to purchase the land from the Bauza family at price outside market value.
In the article an employee of Metminco admits that it has not been possible to have dialogue with the environmental activists who oppose the project.
I am grateful, this sort of issues are not faced at Los Calatos.
