landing on mars, page-46

in answer to some that ask 'so whats in it for us'
apart from the many many obvious day to day items ie non stick frying pans,thermal clothing,medicines and countless others that we either dont know about or take for granted

i remember many years ago studying electronics,looking back it was antiquated gear like transistors,resistors,diodes and caps,then with new technology we moved up into IC's (integrated circuit chips)

the lecturer said "by the time you know how this new technology works it will be history,as for every space craft that the US sends from earth electronics take another giant leap forward"

To this day when i look at ipods,mobiles,ipads,digital tv,gps,microwave ovens, kids games to name but a few, and another ship leaves earth, this time for Mars, i remember his words

this is when and perhaps the only time i really wish i was 40-50 years younger. the mind boggles
