To fix things there has to be a one off shock to things.
Otherwise things stay as they are.

Call it the great reset if you like.
Once so resetted you would find that construction would resume at its former levels on a different price structure. A structure that has people housed and much better off.
@Tarvoid if houses were built just fine in the 1960s to 1980s on just one person's 6 times earnings, then there is no reason at all it cannot be done today. There is that financial education thing once again.
If you have paid too much - that is on you and losses is the normal teacher in this scenario.
