I get that, I have bit of that in me as well.
My grandmother was a real lover of old things and she used to take me to jumble sales when I was a kid.
When I was just 12, I started to collect any interesting old bits and pieces.This became a hobby and an obsession.
Most of this we brought over to Australia with us.
We used to go to England every year to visit family, who lived all over the place. Every village we went through, I was off to the charity shops (op shops)
I found some incredible treasures, I also bought things on ebay there and my large family, many who were getting on were very happy to gift me many old things. Quite a few country auction houses as well.
Then there were the car boot sales, what fun they were. Usually on a Sunday morning in summer, hundreds of people would load up their cars and set up stalls, as my knowledge grew I often found many wonderful things.
Having sold our farm, we had to bring everything down to our burbs house, which was already bursting at the seams. Now we still have 2 bedrooms piled high with boxes of????
So my hobby is selling my collections, mind you I have been doing this on and off for over 15 years.
So yeah, I love the buzz too. Now both of my daughters are into it. My younger daughter took a huge collection of old books from us and now she is selling books online. She is hoping to make a full time living from it. She has come across people who just want rid of the lot and my, there have been some really valuable gems there.
The market has slowed right down as I guess people are struggling, but I will carry on.
The fun part for me is researching.
The only thing I have lost quite a lump of money on is shares, I did not know what I was doing. Now I have just 4 companies left and I think they should go well, given time. I wish I had never started that malarky, but never mind.
