AirBnBs is a more valid target for your anger than long term rentals , as AirBnBs :
reduce the number of available rentals for long term tenants .
DO not pay a fair tax or rates if any on profits unlike motels where that money goes back into paying for local services
Have guests who have little incentive to have regard for their neighbours
Reduce available parking with over booking
Guests Are poorly vetted for suitability
A large % of the profits goes overseas to the AirBnB organisation
Daughter rented out an AirBnB between having long term tenants for one summer , it worked out very profitable , but hurt her conscience a bit for an area that has a high demand for rental accommodation - yes not all landlords are leaches
What is needed is more single and 2 bedroom units built for rentals , for the large single, and single mom population and there needs to be tax changes for single pensioners to get a tax break on their income by taking in a tenant , as many pensioners are in large 4 bedroom homes by themselves where a room could be rented out .
