While I'm not an advocate of NG you can't blame investors for taking advantage of the tax laws. Instead blame successive governments for shifting responsibility of rental housing to the private sector. And I doubt the mostly retired mom and pops investors are fat and lazy, given most started work in their early teens - unlike the Gen Z's and Gen Y's of whom wouldn't know a hard day's work if it slapped them in the face.
