I suspect no-one outside of China would really want to be in business with the CCCP; Look at how they have debt trapped Sri Lanka, as well as many African states. The Solomon Islanders will regret allowing their president to get into bed with them.
I'm hopeful BOC can work a joint venture with a big Australian operation. RIO probably wouldn't be interested (having been burned once) and I'd prefer RIO wasn't involved either given what they did in the Pilbara. BHP or FMG might be a good fit, if the people of Bougainville could stand Twiggy.
