The locals have many times clearly stated they do not wish to have the Chinese involved in the development of the Panguna Mine due to their record of environmental vandalism Globally.
Greed is not the issue here!
It's about a small community of 300,000 indigenous people wanting to fund their Independence from PNG and giving themselves a better future funded by the Pangun Mine. The average annual income of the population is just over US$1000 currently. Why wouldn't they want something better for their future.
