I don't believe substitution is a real danger at this point. There will potentially be competition with fuel cells but batteries look to have a pretty big first mover advantage.
For me, the biggest danger is the capex and challenge to get funding which is basically a race between companies (as you say, beaten to the punch). There's a lot of companies competing in this space even in Australia - CLQ, BAR, GME etc. Really need to hurry things along or we'll miss the train.
