Just having cracked 26 years involvement with Japan and Japanese people up to the consular level thanks to attending St.Ives high school back in the early 90’s, ( area of Sydney where there was a good sized Japanese community ), and yeah- the duck might seem as peaceful as the steady growth of the black pines etc in places like Kinkaku-ji but oooh yeah I can tell anyone willing to listen that the duck is very busy below the surface- my last trip two years ago showed me charging stations and Toyota Prius’s and Nissan Leafs lining up at the traffic lights at a number , ( Osaka city ), of no word of a lie of about 4/10 vehicles? At times it was many more- a set of lights with say 20 cars waiting patiently at times seemed to consist mostly of Prius’s.
It’s happening. Whether we in Oz don’t notice or not- it’s happening.
