Nearly correct; alpha particles are positively charged - they are helium nuclei (they don't have electrons - 2 protons & 2 neutrons each) - it's mainly the kinetic energy of the these particles that contain their energy since they are charged they induce their kinetic energy as a current into adjacent coils
