Lassiter

Listening to ABC Radio midday -conversations- today , the discussion was about the infamous Lassiter and his journeys, found stumbling around the NT/WA border by a camelleer , He was not long for this world.
The discussion presented how he Journied extensively through WA, from the far north to the south of the State,
also spending a lot of time around Kalgoorlie. He tried many times upon returning to the
Eastern States to try and interest investors in funding an exploration trip from Central Australia to the
~West~ of Alice Springs. The reason being his supposed discovery of a small valley with cliffs of gold.
He wanted investors involved to revisit it. Now from THE ALICE , the party headed West across the land
as per Lassiters directions,looking for the golden cliff. It was never found.
There is also a movie based on a true story of a woman in the 70`s who travelled by camel , west of THE ALICE.
She took some time , slow, desert, wild area.
She finished her journey West, on the coast near Exmouth.
So..... I wonder
Did Lassiter head West from THE ALICE, find his cliff, in the Pilbara , dazed ,maybe slightly deranged or suffering
from lack of supplies etc in the desert, the gold since then washed or moved from sight as he never returned with anyone else to that spot, But always maintained it was West of THE ALICE
