I haven't been impressed by PLV's communication these last 2.5 years at all. Said it many times over. Often been criticised for saying it.
Unfortunately i've been on the money.
PLV continued to amaze me in their inability to communicate a strong consistent and unified message that adds value to the company and shareholders.
This frequent talk of change of management and how communication has gotten worse with new PLV is not only a feel good myth - its blatantly incorrect.
It may have gotten worse - but it wasn't good anyway in other words.
Lets not glorify the old PLV... it created this...remember?
Despite the inconsistencies, the poor shareholder communications, the failure to develop trust in a challenging market, PLV are looking much stronger.
However, if they were switched on to, and with shareholders they would be well ahead of the curve imo.
They are not...at least not yet.
Lets look at a part of that recent announcement:
"Pluton’s seventh shipment of high grade iron ore is currently being loaded and we will be trialling a run rate of three ships per month from June 2013. "
"Our long term corporate strategy is to build a Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve base to a target production rate of 6-8 million tonnes per annum 3 of high grade iron ore while remaining in the lowest quartile for production costs in the Australian iron ore industry."
(Another PLV motherhood statement about long term strategy...yawn...and what is that? How does it look? Cockatoo and/or Irvine?...and on Irvine 2014 is mentioned and other partners..start adding a picture AND VALUE to this. When? Give us some valuation perspective etc etc)
"The fact that we see continued strong demand for our high grade product (so why the drilling delays in further adding value to shareholders and strengthening the company?) from our customers and that we are
the closest source of long term iron ore in Australia to North Asia, with ready access to seaways and existing
infrastructure gives Pluton great confidence in the future."
So on the surface looks good. 3 shiploads IO a month is a big positive.
Drilling 3rd quarter sounds good albeit delayed (and perhaps the delays might be more strategic re the initial failed attempt to secure 100% Cockatoo?)
All that said though its up to PLV to hit the boards in the green.
I expect a move up from 23 cents...not a move down. Not based on this information and the clear developments that have transpired here.
If PLV goes down its not the markets fault. They have had 5 more months to get this right and to add further value.
Look at the MC and the continued IO production capacity moving up again in just a couple of weeks..
PLV have had 2.5 years of reasons and excuses to lose value. We hit the bottom its up to PLV to show leadership and set a standard here from this base level.
The companies immediate sentiment and positive prospects rest entirely (note not partly) on their shoulders.
Its squarely on PLV's shoulders to send a VERY strong message to the market that PLV are not only back in business, but PLV are back in a big and better way.
Much improvement needed on a clear consistent message that is reflected in following through.
Show the market the value. Give shareholders the strong message to stick with us.
Hearing shareholders here vent their frustrations at failure to respond to communications and updating websites is an indication of the cultural values/attitudes PLV has towards its shareholder base and how seriously it takes its professional responsibility towards shareholders.
No amount of intermittent ASX releases will cover those shortcomings or attitudes up. Its why PLV have to look at everything they do and admit they have fallen well short of what is required to gain the trust and confidence from shareholders
The sleeping giant so often attributed to Irvine Island could well be reflected back onto the company itself.
Leadership is everyones job - not just one designated person who occasionally reaches out over a castle wall and throws peanuts to the starving masses.
Things have to change here. Shareholders have an opportunity to contribute to that if they choose....kissing backsides has never been, and will never be, the way to do this.
Hopefully some here have learned that lesson.
I haven't been impressed by PLV's communication these last 2.5...
