I suspect there is more than one black coal player showing interest here. Who knows, it could be TINCOM. Maybe they're looking for Board positions so they can control the company's direction?
When you consider the sale price of coldry pellets ($20/tonne) vs black coal (currently $80/tonne and will continue to rise over the next 50 years) you can appreciate why there could be potntial interest.
Most people dont know that Latrobe Valley contains enough brown coal for another 500 years. Unprocessed brown coal cannot be transported - hence only useful for power stations based at LV.
