I have not checked your maths but if true then that would not imply that they are dumb. Economists actually consider people as rational beings. It may simply be that they WANT TO GET OUT FROM GOLD STOCKS AND WANT TO DO IT NOW AND ARE WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE.
