Maybe its just because I am relaxed to the max after 2 weeks of holidays, but I am kinda glad the Qld Govt has brought things to a head in the manner they have, that is:
# "in character" timing and manner, ie after hours announcement, weekend press, no consultation, no "how's yer mother" ... quite cowardly imo
# this is as it has been since the original midnight suspension without consultation all those months ago now ... quite cowardly imo
# since then, a complete an utter refusal to engage in any discussion/dialogue with the company over the basis of iniitial and/or ongoing concerns ... quite cowardly imo
# a scientific panel with not an ounce of ucg experience between them was convened and relied on by the Qld Govt ... quite cowardly imo
# insisting on a debilitatingly narrow terms of reference for the scientific panel, not the least being consideration of any possible "on farm" and "off site" sources of BTEX contamination ... quite cowardly imo
# when no contamination could be proven, "risk assessment measures" became grounds for maintaining suspension ... the scientific panel had no exertise in this area either I understand ... all quite cowardly imo
Imo, the Qld Govt's legal case will be viewed as severely weakened for the way they have conducted themselves, their passive (questionably imo) acceptance of trial by media inflicted on the company, their refusal to meet/discuss with the company, the manner and timing of their press releases, their refusal (it seems) to reply to the company's ASX rebuttal of issues as stated, and their decision to go legal without any (apparent) consultation with Cougar(it seems).
It is a long way from "slam dunk" for the Qld Govt imo.
