Cottsurfer, there is not a bloke on the market that has not lost money. The issue is about managing money and setting limits to exposure and getting out before losses are too great. So if anyone has been in over 20 years, then all I can say is they are their own worst enemy if the tide was against them. It is true that a trade cycle can make idiots look good.
We are now in a positive trade cycle and a turnaround at the top with a new manager. So I would expect a paradigm shift in culture to tap the resource that many of us know they have got and a phasing out of the old guard. This was a factor in my entry. So the past performance IMO is irrelevant, with new management, new shareholders, and a new trade cycle.
Timing is the key, being in the right place at the right time. Results will speak for themselves to bring in further new blood and capital to make HLX's operation viable. If not, I will cut my losses and move on. At the moment a speculative stock is a risk and reward evaluation using an analysis of strengths and weaknesses, the opportunities and the threats. This analysis becomes an economic decision about opportunity cost, which to me is favourable and the market is saying the same thing. I am sure the market makers are privy to more information than I have at my disposal. I can't change the world, but have only worked with it in the last 30 years+ private trading.
People trading have to take personal responsibility for better or worse. It is certainly caveat emptor. So far, so good for me and my taxes give many a hand up.
