That reminds me of a true story about 10 years ago in the Grand Prix rally from Adelaide to Melbourne. An elderly gentleman competing in a Ferrari was traveling between stages, where normal road rules apply, when clocked doing 180kph. The police officer pulled him over and asked why the elderly gent was doing such a speed and received a reply stating "I had to slow down to take the bend back there". He let him go.
