Realistically, rewnewables are decades away,Putin,Chavez
and OPEC are snuggling up close and personal with a big
lasso over their collective heads to "hogtie" the oil
importing countries if and when it suits them. Natural
gas is in that equation as well.
Would not like to gamble on a cheaper oil outcome, for
declining production puts oil producers in the position
of deciding what they want to charge and who they want
to sell to.
If the above "cartel" decides to sell their oil for a
fixed rate to a buyer who pays in something other than
a weak US dollar, it would become an economic weapon
in a world where there is no "free market" for oil.
We must develop our coal resources ASAP for in 7/8 years
when our oil is fading and we go cap in hand to the Arabs
to demand more oil, they will look at our dollar and if it is
not as strong as they would like it, they may think twice
about selling their oil...for when its gone all they will
have left is sand.
