LNG being a substantial shareholder of MEL doesn't immediately make sense to me.

Firstly MEL have never said they want to be anything other than a gas producer (Richmond Power Station aside)

Secondly imo LNG don't have a track record or a balance sheet that justify an operating or equity position in a major LNG plant.

But then, vision and ambition can work wonders.

I heard from a friend that LNG did quite well out of an equity postion taken in AOE pre the announced and consumated takeover ... how astute!

Could our new substantial shareholder be looking to continue with its recent successful astuteness (my word lol)? Might they simply be backing the probability of corporate action on MEL? Might they have industry knowledge and/or contacts?

It looks to be getting interesting imo.
