Orientation is important - my (limited) understanding is that alignment of the direction of the well's lateral relative to the direction of natural fracturing of the source rock can be beneficial to improve oil flow through the fractured source rock. Why Prairie Falcon is orented perpendicularly to Abercrombie I dont know but can only guess whatever information the company has must suggest it is better to do it that way.

If you look at the MBOGC webmapper you will see in quite a few areas where there are wells close to each other but oriented perpendicularly to each other, so there must be reasons other than localised rock geology for that.
