What bothers me is that the Court also stopped the construction of the Cascade Point Marine Facility. According to the Alaska Dept of Nat. Resources, this was to be the loading bay for barges.

    For fuel, alone:-

"During construction there will be seven barges per week; during operation three to four barges per week. The barges will deliver fuel in isotainers; each isotainer has a capacity of 6,500 gallons and up to 9 isotainers per week will be delivered during operations."

Now, here's the problem (from Coeur's website):-

"Access to the mine is presently by helicopter, float plane or boat from Juneau."

And this, from the Sierra Club's website:-

"Mine vessel and barge traffic will cross the Bay with fuel, ore, employees, and construction materials on a daily basis (three to five round-trips a day)."

With all the focus on the tailings dam (for which there is a solution, albeit a more expensive one), there is no focus on this particularly critical issue.

For a report on the judgment, see:-
