They will also need to acquire land outside of the National Park to deposit the overburden which will be millions of tonnes.
Not saying it won't happen but I don't give it much of a chance...maybe 30% at best. The greenies will find an endangered frog of fungi and then you can forget any open cast mine.
I think the mine is more likely to be sold on to a company that can resurrect the underground. Apparently there has been some interest from an Australian coal mining company..(just a rumour)
I could be quite wrong.
