It is clear the initial offer put to insto's was much higher and they got screwed down, so any conspiracy theories with QBE are rubbish. I still think the QBE deal was a good one under the circumstances. 270M for a part of the company as opposed to 475M for 80% of the whole company.

I have seen this before in recap proposals, shift of wealth from retail investors to instos. At least there is a consolation prize with this one which should lessen the pain for those with capital available.

As far as those rubbishing the whole farming sector, is the population of the world gettting smaller ? Is food getting cheaper ? Are we consuming less per head of population ? You would have a better job being a doomsayer on oil than food.
