They usually exclude undecideds in polls, but they are a small proportion and tend to break roughly equally between the two major parties in 2PP terms anyway.
I agree with the rest though, the incumbent should benefit at times like this but that 'honeymoon' period might be over by now. And as Labor won Eden-Monaro 2.5 months ago I doubt there was a big boost for the Coalition in the first place.
