I have to put a case forward re glasses, it is called myopia and that area of the globe has the highest incidence.
How do I know, well I have been working in that area for at least 5 years in a research facilty (contractor) and a cure is getting very close.
Singapore has one of the highest incidence and early factors claimed were due to the lack of deapth in the environment. Small flats, lots of time at school etc, these factors are now not accepted by the majority of researchers.
Off topic: I feel the lastest/longest obsession is having a go at the different ways each generation portrays themsleves.
