Diabolical but brilliant. He is the reason that West New Guinea is not an independent state or joined with New Guinea. He's also, mysteriously, on the board of Freeport McMoran with its mountain of gold in west New Guinea (Grasberg).
To return to the topic of Egypt & Gold, I don't think it is clear yet how the price of gold will be affected by the turmoil. Market seems to a bit blase.
One bellwether for Egypt & Gold would be Centamin Egypt which rose from a few cents to about $2.50 per share. I haven't seen its share price since the troubles began.
