The annoucement turps quoted was from Mar 2015 so now at 1.75yrs into things and your tea-leaves saying they are still at it I would say my advice that it would take 2+yrs was a lot closer to reality than anyone else's guess at the time. I would have been upset if a product was in the market sooner than that as it would have meant I hadn't been advised correctly and perhaps missed a business opportunity.
