After Howard kicked off his campaign with yet another scare mungering, downright LIE, which no doubt insighted the fear of the DEVIL into the pathetic little minds of most Australians (Howards only political tool), Latham had no choice but to GRANDSTAND in retaliation.
And please don't go spreading untrues ripped. Latham, as reported in some UNCAPTURED media publications, ONLY promised to keep downward pressure on interest rates, not lock them in, or keep them low.
Basically, as I've posted before, the mismangement of the economic policy by Howard in his term, has set the course for high interest rates regardless of who wins. As reported in the SMH this morning, Howard and Costello, have cleverly managed to keep the focus off our ballooning trade debt. Last quater the worst since 1986. In a world economy that is calling for more Free Trade and when the USA want to FORCE Australia to accept a Trade Agreement (nothing Free about it), our current trade policies would cause our trade deficit to send Australia through the hoop economically speaking.
But alas, Howard banks on Australians general lack of information and financial knowledge, and as I've said before, Australians are generally so polarised and ignorant to anything outside their small towns, cities and brains that this plays right into Howards dirty little, mangy hands.
Members of this site would do well to either get some economic schooling, read the business sections in various papers and stop basing ALL of their economic prowess on the continual BULLSHIT that dribbles from the most ignorant posters that usually, and almost fill this HotCopper board 24/7.
It is not only dangerous to newbies, it has managed to polarise a group of individuals, who, just like little Johnny Howard, can not and will not, see the forest through the trees.
Knowledge is power, and HotCopper definately ain't that powerful :)
