What Latham sees as being a "tin man" is often just ordinary civility. Latham's view of leadership is that you just say and do whatever you want without regard to civilised behaviour. If the deaths of half a million people mean nothing to you, why should you have to come out and make a statement on the matter? If you think domestic violence is getting too much press, why not personally target a woman whose child was clubbed to death with a cricket bat? Latham is intelligent, but has a borderline sociopathic lack of empathy.
