problem was they pandered to the minorities and watered down GST so you had GST on cooked chicken, exempt on raw etc etc they should have put GST on everything - book food the lot just like in NZ
keep it simple reduce the paperwork
we had to have a GST so all credit to the Coalition for (1) telling the electorate in advance (2) successfully implemented it
the ALP would have introduced it by stealth like Labour did in NZ
but Ridge "Honest" John has long lost his reputation, he said he would clean up parliament after Keating left yet no matter what conflicts of interest his ministers got exposed on, he never held them accountable
