Listed fruit and vegetable grower, wholesaler and marketer CGC has had an incident-rich journey since listing, with some operations performing poorly, criticism it isn't well managed and suggestions it lacks pricing power.
However while not linear, recently its share price has begun to rise.
This may indicate in the medium term it's a takeover target, or how wet weather in 2022 may mean ultimately good conditions for growers despite the damage flooding previously caused.
Whatever, it's at least a slight positive for LAU because our company has historically relied upon such growers to fill LAU's trucks, and perhaps more recently some of its railable containers.
It's extremely hard to discern if fruit and vegetable consumption per capita is increasing or declining in Australia as the ABS largely just publishes how many of us comply to the very high recommended daily intake of fruit and vegetables. A large number do not.
However :LAU continues to play a pivotal role.
