This video shows a very slow moving Sydney to Brisbane train notable for the large number of empty container flat wagons at the rear.
LAU has 11 liveried railable containers on the train, with the possibility that other ones lacking a livery have become part of the growing LAU fleet. If the latter's factual, it will further underscore what an important client LAU has become to unlisted rail operator Pacific National.
LAU hasn't long signed a five year contract with PN but LAU's growing scale suggests that if and when the contract comes up for renegotiation in say four years' time, the usual argy-bargy will see LAU in a fairly strong negotiating position, especially given listed AZJ's reentry into intermodal intercapital trains with the latter's 11 year $1.8 billion Team Global Express intermodal contract that is according to AZJ only filling 70 per cent of its available capacity. AZJ has only commenced a weekly Melbourne to Perth and return intermodal train but the number of trips per week will gradually increase, and it'll also commence operating Melbourne to Brisbane and return by 2024.
