'The Weekend Australian' of 23-24 December 2023 has an article about the Palmerston Highway being cut by Far North Queensland's recent floods and how a rival road transport operator is having to charge growers extra due to the required diversion, and how down the Kuranda Range smaller truck combinations than usual are the maximum permitted.
In addition, it's said there'll be some shortages of Australian-grown bananas and Kensington Pride mangoes among other fruit for a while.
It'll also be challenging for LAU. Clients won't enjoy paying additional freight charges, and if smaller trucks have to be used, it's a further hiccup that six months ago wouldn't have been predicted.
