From what can be deduced, the above intermodal train was travelling from Sydney to Perth as train number 7SP5, due out of Broken Hill at 0930 ACDT on Sunday 31 December.
There were at least two NR class locomotives on the train (NR79 and NR41).
Because it was a westbound, nearly all the containers would normally be fully loaded, even at this time of year.
