Overnight:
Major American indices finished on the negative side after a choppy, volatile session
Dow Jones -0.08%. SP500 -0.5%. Nasdaq -0.9%, NYSE -0.46%, Banks +0.34%, Europe Top 100 -0.91%.
VIX (Fear Index) continued to pull-back from multi-year highs but remains at high levels.
SP500
We still have no re-entry signal. The trend channel remains steeply down. We will probably see more scratchy action before being sure that a bottom is in.
Commodities:
Commodities were down strongly. DBC -1.14%. Energy -1.98%. Gold -0.47% and Industrial Metals -2.12%. Copper Producers -4.02%. Iron Ore +2%.
Overnight BHP was down -2.79% and Rio was down -2.34%. Woodside -0.82%. Westpac -2.26%.
With weak commodity prices and our banks under bearish conditions, it’s difficult to see us having a positive day.
