there's always a choice but not the kind of jobs the young ones want anymore...farming?
so humans are much like moths...bright lights and movement, very attractive.
however, cities grow, right or wrong, there's no stopping urban migration, and hence the 1/4 acre in a 5-10km ring of cities like most popular places is a thing of the past, or soon to be too expensive and the developers move in.
People talk about Japan property price collapse, but inner city Tokyo is still very very expensive for a modern shoebox and they still give the landlord "gift money" for moving in + bond + agent fee.
We have some pretty big populations in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, yet 100km away, you can buy 1/4 price or less.
Answer, get a job you can do from any location, anytime, anywhere. Buy a business, or work from home option.
