That is a specific situation, not a generalised formula for which all Charting patterns and indications are based.

A specific isolated situation as you describe won't fit any conventional patterns and is being manipulated as you suggest.

Therefore you have to recognise when and where there is manipulation to see past it and not fall for the trap.

Looking to force a pattern where there isn't an obvious one just to suit your trading agenda or strategy is a fools hope.

In the case of wicks, again they only apply to individual candles and candle patterns, when making a chart pattern like a symmetrical triangle trend lines need to be made using the opening and closing prices; top and bottom of the candles and cut through the noise. In some cases even full body candles can be noise and need to be cut through.
