The lead in the tailings dam is now almost as valuable as the zinc.
Tha dam contained 305,000 tonnes of zinc initially, and 330,000 tonnes of lead. With zinc selling at US$3,522 a tonne, and lead at $$3,224,

the zinc was worth US$1.074 billion, and the lead US$1.064 billion.
However, the current concentrate project takes about five times as much zinc out of the dam as lead, so by the time the joint venture has run its course, I calculate that there will only be about US$698 million worth of zinc left in the dam, but US$989 worth of lead (using current prices, obviously)
...hence the decision to incorporate a lead recovery circuit in the initial stage of the Residues Project
