Can you provide a link to show who gave the document to the press? And have you seen the document? IMO it's the newspapers who are 'scaremongering'.

The actual document is a draft, and says the current shortfall in pledges "could" result in 3c warming or 550ppm CO2, not "will". Clearly a working draft in progress to inform delegates of the current state of play.

Journalists are very lazy these days and believe they have to exaggerate everything or people won't read them. I haven't trusted newpapers for years. Many many years ago, when I was just a wee young thing I found that journalists staged photos of a local event and since that time I've checked the source myself on matters I consider important.

Alarmist and falsely sensational journalism will just pander to the crowd, reinforcing their existing view, whatever their religion (ie - belief or disbelief) :)
