In Indonesia a man called Harvey Moeis unsuccessfully appealed a sentence of 10 years jail to the top appeals court which is a panel of judges.
Harvey had been found guilty of manipulating the sale of tin and of corruption.
In his initial trial he received a punishment of only 6.5 years jail. Harvey thought this sentence was a bit unfair so he appealed to the next level court. That court increased the punishment to 10 years.
Poor Harvey thought that he could get a better deal from the top appeals court. The top court considered the amount of corruption and the extent of financial damage to society. The panel of judges said that there was no circumstance to lighten the sentence. They increased the sentence to 20 years.
