I'm trading via CMC at the moment. Beware that CFD charts are not the same as the real index prices. They flick around to hoover up stops and get ahead of the punters.
I learnt by getting a demo account with them. Other providers have demo accounts too. There are videos on the net. But I haven't seen a good one.
Beware of the danger of leverage, e.g. the DAX moved 85 points in 5 minutes and then another 55 in the next 50 minutes based on ECB surprise interest rate cut. It would wipe out your account if it gapped over your stop and you were putting too much of your capital into your bets.
ATM, I trade reversals on the 5 min charts. Made 124% profit last week, and it could easily have been much more. Won't tell you how much I lost before that by doing the wrong thing (setting stops too short and trading breakouts and trends).
