The rat was an ADF lawyer.. it's not whether or not we 'believe' anything it is the sheer volume of what was disclosed and the evidence it provided
The ADF had a disgruntled employee within it's ranks.. That disgruntled employee allegedly sought resolution with internal pathways but when not happy about that allegedly made the fateful decision to disclose state secrets to the media..
He is now in prison which IMHO is justice served for our ADF.. Something which I have consistently supported as reasonable balance to the implications to our personnel of his reckless act
However, it does not admonish either the Howard Govt or the ADF as an institution for their failings.. The ADF is a command organisation and soldiers behaviour reflects how effective that command really is
Indeed also the ABC must be held accountable as well and if it willfully doctored such a video then so be it, have a massive enquiry, will that make you feel better ?
Obviously the ADF would have learned that it needs stronger protection of it's own data and it needs to manage disgruntled employees a whole lot better and / or screen employees better for psychological problems
