The research of "research and development of rare earth LED luminescent materials that can control its luminescent life span and the application of the material in semiconductor lighting", carried out by Changchun Institute of Applied Chemical of Chinese Academy of Science and Chengdu, Sichuan Sunfor Light Source Co., Ltd., has passed the examination recently.

Experts remarked that the originally innovated rare earth luminescent material has effectively solved the stroboscopic problem of alternating LED lighting equipment that has not been solve in the international market and realized the great leap from basic research to specialization which has reached the international advanced level. As a consequence, China has become the only county in the world that can produce low stroboscopic alternating LED products by using rare earth phosphors.

It is reported that existed LED luminescent light source has the shortcoming of high energy consumption, weak heat dissipation and high costs as it is promoted by direct current and direct and alternating light should be transferred during working. As a consequence, the development of new LED luminescent products that can be promoted by alternating current directly is good for improving people's life and boosting the development of LED luminescent industry. Moreover, the series of products has passed the associated national authentication at present as well as the authentication of US Underwriters Laboratories (UL), US Federal Communications Committee (FCC), Unification of Europe (CE) and ROHS and are sold to many countries including America, Canada, Mexico, Spain and Brazil which have gained significant economic benefits.

Securities analysis report anticipates that the output of rare earth luminescent material used for energy saving lamps in the market will reach 8,000-10,000 tons and the yearly compound growth rate will reach 21% in 2013.
